The Advanced Engineering Tools (AET) Certificate Program is a
graduate level program offered by the SUNY College of Environmental Science and
Forestry. Developed in cooperation with the Manufacturers Association of Central
New York (MACNY) and co-sponsored by the SUNY Center for Brownfield Studies, the program prepares participants to meet the challenges of
engineering and construction projects that involve advanced information technology.
The program consists of six graduate level courses offered over one year designed
to give participants new knowledge and skills in the following areas:
- Global positioning systems
- Geographic information systems
- Computer-aided design and drafting
- Construction contracts and specifications
- Brownfield redevelopment practices
Participants earn graduate-level credit for each completed course. While successful completion of this program does not guarantee admission to a Master’s degree program, most courses will meet partial requirements for a Master’s track in programs such as SUNY-ESF’s Master of Professional Studies in Environmental Management or Mapping Sciences.
Program Schedule – Fall, 2006
Application Deadline July 27, 2006
Classes Begin September 7, 2006
(Program Orientation to be scheduled)
All classes meet on Thursday evenings from 5:00 – 9:00 pm. An occasional
Saturday class may be required (times to be arranged).
Program Costs
The cost of the program is $4,748.00. This includes program fees and related expenses. The cost of books is not included.
Admission Requirements
Participants must hold a Bachelors Degree from a recognized institution representing advanced study in science or engineering topics and with evidence of quantitative skills appropriate to those disciplines. Exposure to technical drafting is desirable, but not necessary.
A completed SUNY-ESF graduate application, official transcripts of previous course work, a current resume, a $60 application fee, and three letters of recommendation are also required.
