MAE552: Building Environmental Measurements and Controls
Ted Ceraldi
Ted Ceraldi, AIA, received his bachelor of architecture degree from
Cooper Union in New York City. He also has an AAS degree in construction technology from SUNY. Prior to joining the faculty at Syracuse University, Professor Ceraldi taught design, painting, and landscape drawing at Rockland Community College, New York.
In practice as Theodore M. Ceraldi & Associates, Architects, Professor Ceraldi has completed many projects nationally and internationally. The project range includes office buildings and commercial facilities, equine facilities, religious buildings, private residences, site development, and planning. The work has received awards and honors including the National AIA Honor award for excellence in design. The Hudson River House received a Record House of The Year Award from Architectural Record.
His work has appeared in Progressive Architecture, Architecture d'Aujourd'hui,
The AIA Journal, Architectural League of New York, and the RIBA Journal in England. He is also contributing author to the 8th and 9th Editions of Architectural Graphic Standards by Wiley. He is a contributing member of the AIA, the New York State Association of Architects, and the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards. He has been a guest lecturer and critic at The Cooper Union, Virginia Polytechnic Institute, University of Buffalo, Dalhousie University, University of Montreal, and the University of the Arts in Philadelphia; and a guest juror for the AIA Virginia and North Dakota chapters, the Architectural League of New York, New York University, and SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry.
Ceraldi served on the Architectural Technology Advisory Board of SUNY College
of Agriculture and Technology at Morrisville, NY. He is a member of the New York
Indoor Environmental Quality Center of Syracuse and Central New York, Inc. and
a member of the advisory board of the International Association of Lighting Designers of America.
ERE596: Special Topics: Economics and Management of High-Performance Buildings John Vasselli
John J. Vasselli is the Executive Vice President of the New York Indoor Environmental Quality Center, which is the technology transfer and commercialization organization of the Center of Excellence in Environmental and Energy Systems.
He is the past President and CEO of the Houston Advanced Research Center (HARC)
in The Woodlands, Texas. HARC is one of the premier research centers in the country specializing in “Sustainable Development” in the areas of energy, advanced materials, water and air quality and human health related research.
Prior to his work in Texas, Vasselli served as the Director of the Science, Technology and Policy Center and the Environmental Sciences Center at the Syracuse Research Corporation. Before joining SRC, John was a Corporate Vice President of the $3 Billion/yr Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC).
During his career, John has also successfully created and developed several technology companies, taking his first from one to over 600 employees. Through these positions, Mr. Vasselli brings more than 30 years of experience to the region associated with technology-driven economic development, academia/industry research collaboration, and pre-seed/early-seed technology commercialization initiatives. Mr. Vasselli holds a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, as well as Masters Degrees in Biomedical Engineering and Research Management.

Dr. Jianshun Zhang
Dr. Jianshun Zhang received his Ph.D. degree from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1991 and worked at National Research Council Canada (NRCC) as a Research Officer for 8 years before he joined Syracuse University in 1999. He has over 18 years of research experience in Built Environmental Systems (BES), and twice received the NRCC Research Award. He has authored or co-authored over 90 technical papers, 1 book and 2 ASTM standards.
Zhang is a Member of the Editorial Board of The International Journal of Ventilation and the Journal of Thermal Insulation and Building Science. He teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in BES measurements and modeling; heat and mass transfer, and HVAC system design & analyses. He has advised/co-advised 10 Ph.D. students, 14 M.S. students, and 7 Postdoctoral Fellows. Dr. Zhang serves on ASHRAE's Research Activity Committee, and several Technical and Standard Committees. He is also a Voting Member of ASTM D22.05 on Indoor Air, and a Member of AWMA and ISIAC. |
